Developmental Editing - 4 cents per word (your word count multiplied by .04) - This package is the most in-depth, giving your manuscript the attention described in the "Line Editing" and "Proofreading" packages below, along with providing feedback on fiction techniques such as your hook (opening), POV errors, pacing, author intrusion/info dumps, dialogue, echoed words, causality, awkward narrative, believability, showing vs. telling, overwriting, effective foreshadowing, word choice, etc.

Line Editing - 3.5 cents per word (your word count multiplied by .035) - This package is similar to a copyedit, ensuring consistency in spelling, hyphenation, numerals, capitalization, and checking for all the issues listed in the "Proofreading" package below. I'll make sure your manuscript is easy to follow, conveys the proper sense of emotion and tone, and that omitted words/phrases, inconsistencies, and repetitions are addressed.

Proofreading - 3 cents per word (your word count multiplied by .03) - I will go through your manuscript looking only for grammar, punctuation errors, word usage, verb tense, sentence structure, idioms, and formatting.

"Big picture" advice ($350 total) - I'll look at the first twenty-five pages of your manuscript (Word document, Times New Roman, 12pt font, and double-spaced) and give you an honest evaluation of whether or not your manuscript is "on the right track." I'll provide detailed feedback on areas of improvement and an action plan to make your story thrum.

About the Editor

I began my career as a professional editor in 2011, during which time I edited fiction and nonfiction titles for a traditional publishing house. Years later, I worked solely alongside bestselling thriller author Steven James (editing his titles Every Deadly Kiss and Every Wicked Man). In 2018, I expanded my reach into freelance editing and now regularly coach authors on the craft of writing.
